Youngstown - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, Youngstown, with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio officiating for Carmel M. Colaizzi, 85, of Youngstown, who passed away Thursday morning, February 9, 2017 with her loving family by her side.
Carmel was a sweet and loving daughter, aunt and cousin. She will always be remembered and loved for her smile, generosity, caring and nurturing personality.
She was born June 15, 1931 in Youngstown, the daughter of Tristano and Rose (Mariani) Colaizzi and was a lifelong area resident.
Carmel graduated from East High School and retired after many years of employment at General Electric.
Carmel loved and was an active member of Our lady of Mount Carmel Basilica. She was a member of the Mothers of Crucifix Society, a past member of parish council, helped work and on the festival committee, spaghetti dinner committee, oversaw running the Bishop’s Appeal and helped with registering the envelopes from collections on Sunday.
Carmel had many passions throughout her life. She enjoyed traveling, socializing with her Ladies Club and participated in the GE bowling league, but for Carmel, what she enjoyed most was spending time with her family and friends.
Carmel leaves to cherish her memories a nephew Chris (Colleen) Colaizzi of Austintown, a great nephew Matthew Colaizzi along with many cousins and numerous friends that all cared about her dearly.
Besides her parents, Carmel, was preceded in death by a brother Sam Colaizzi.
Carmel’s wishes were to have family and friends pay their respects on Monday, February 13, 2017 from 9:00 am until 9:55 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mount Carmel Basilica, Youngstown
Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman (new location).
In lieu of flowers and to honor Carmel’s life, the family requests material donations be made Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mount Carmel Basilica, Youngstown, Ohio 44505.
