Eddie Franklin

Youngstown – There will be a funeral service held on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 11:00 am at New Covenant Worship Center, 1900 Canfield Rd. (corner of Bears Den and Canfield Rd.), Youngstown, for Eddie Franklin, 84, of Youngstown, who passed away at his residence Saturday evening, April 8, 2017 with his loving family by his side.

Eddie will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for his humor and devotion to his family.

He was born on January 9, 1933 in Hopehull, Alabama, the son of Elie and Mary (Wheelwright) Franklin.

Eddie retired from Anchor Freight Company after 29 years of service as a truck driver and was a member of the Teamsters Local 377.

He was of the Baptist Faith and a former member of the Christian Bible Baptist Church.

Eddie was a proud United States Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean War and earned the rank of Airman 3rd Class. He received an Honorable Discharge along with the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal for his service to our country.

Eddie had many passions throughout his life. He enjoyed playing the lottery, working on cars, and being outdoors working in his yard. He especially enjoyed fishing and taking his grandchildren and great grandchildren for rides on his tractor.

He leaves behind to hold onto his precious memories his beloved wife of over 60 years the former Barbara Moore whom he married December 22, 1956, three children Deborah Ann Pegues, Linda Marie Carter and Marcus Cobb Sr. all of Youngstown, fourteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, two brothers Birch (Delores) Franklin of Youngstown and Willie Lee Franklin of Alabama, a sister Rose (George) Jones of Alabama and a sister-in-law Carol Franklin of California along with his friends of over 50 years Floyd (LeaRae) Carter.

Besides his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by two sons Vincent Keith Cobb and Ricky Collins, a son-in-law Winston “Buzzy” Pegues Sr. and a brother Jim Franklin.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, April 14, 2017, from 10:00 am until 10:50 am at New Covenant Worship Center, 1900 Canfield Rd., Youngstown.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman (new location).
