     Canfield:  There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 7345 Westview Drive in Boardman, for Larry L. Marsh, 78, who passed away on Wednesday morning, February 15, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Health Center after an extended illness.

     Larry was born October 7, 1938, in Girard, the son of the late Pete and Florence (Greathouse) Marsh.

       Upon leaving high school, Larry entered into the Marine Corp and received an honorable discharge.  He was mainly an over the road truck driver along with working various jobs throughout the country.   Larry later became a Corrections Officer for several years before retiring in Ohio.

     Larry was a former member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Girard, where he served as an altar boy.

     He was a member of Ohio Judo & Karate Association, the American Legion Post 888, the American Legion Post 945, a life member of Vienna  Amvets, Post 290 and the Army & Navy Union, USA.   Larry was a mason with The Grand Lodge of Ohio, F & AM, Copper Penny Lodge #778 F & AM, a member of the Ali Baba Grotto and a member of the NRA.  

     He was an avid hunter, fisherman and had an interest in how things were built.  Larry had a great personality, sense of humor and was a great cook. He loved to BBQ and cook for his family and friends. 

     Larry is survived by his wife of nearly  50 years, the former Judith ( Judy) Knapp; five children Christine (Sam) Oliver of Canfield whom was the light of his life, Michael Marsh of Austintown, Richard (Jackie Humes) Marsh of Vienna, Joe Marsh of Vienna and Steven (Kimberly) Marsh of Tennessee; twenty grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Courtney, Gianna, Rachel, Michael, Amanda, Joey, Tammy, Perk, Cindy, Christine, Noah, Joey Jr., Amanda, Stephanie, Adam, Amanda, Steven and Paige;  ; several great grandchildren and two brothers. Stan Marsh and Joseph Toth, both of Girard. 

     Besides his parents, Larry was preceded in death by two sons, Larry L. Marsh, Jr. and David Marsh; a grandson Richard Marsh, Jr.; a sister Janice Vaughan and a brother, William Shade. 

 

    Family and friends may call on Sunday, February 19, 2017 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street in Boardman (new location) with a Masonic Service at 5 pm and on Monday, February 20th, from 10 to 10:50 am at St. Charles Borromeo Church, in the gathering space.

Burial will take place at Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown, where military honors will be observed for Larry’s service to his country.   

     The family would like to thank Dr. Suzan L. Selim, Dr. Nicholas Proia and Pat Elliott and her family for the love, care and support that they gave to Larry and his family.
