Austintown - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, Youngstown, preceded by a 9:15 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home 4221 Market St., Boardman (new location), with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio as celebrant and Father Henry Andrea as con-celebrant, for Andrew W. “Andy” Ashby, 55, of Austintown, who passed away Thursday afternoon, September 21, 2017 after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage with his loving family and friends by his side.

Andy will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for his generosity, his smile and sense of humor.

He was born July 13, 1962 in Youngstown, the son of Clarence “Sparky” Sr. and Mary Lou (Smith) Ashby and was a lifelong area resident.

Andy was a 1982 graduate of Chaney High School and following his passion for cooking then graduated from the New York Institute of Culinary Arts.

He began his career as a chef working at the Colonial House, Youngstown and then became the Sauté Chef for Jimmy Chieffo Restaurant, Warren followed by becoming the Executive Chef for the Timberlanes in Salem and most recently was a Sauté Chef for Tippecanoe Country Club.

Andy was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Canfield Lodge 155 and Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Sharon. He also attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica and did a lot of volunteer work for many organizations especially for the Knights of Columbus.

Andy was known as the “Biggest Parrot Head” because of his passion for Jimmy Buffet. He attended over 30 concerts and had the privilege to meet Jimmy Buffet while vacationing in Las Vegas. He was also an avid Miami Dolphins fan.    

He leaves behind to hold onto his memories his father Clarence “Sparky” Ashby Sr., two sisters Debbie Carrocce of Canfield and Diana (Al) Thompson of Boardman, a brother Clarence “Sparky” Ashby Jr. of Michigan, his longtime best friends Sam Accordino of Austintown and Father Henry Andrea of Sharon, Pennsylvania, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews along with his beloved cats Sammy, Sydney and Waldo.

Andy was preceded in death by his mother Mary Lou Ashby, a nephew Shaun Ashby and brother-in-law Ron Carrocce.  

Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday, September 25, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St. Boardman (new location) where the Odd Fellows Lodge will hold a prayer service at 6:45 p.m.

In honoring Andy’s wishes and because of his passion for Jimmy Buffet, everyone is asked to wear casual Hawaiian shirts to calling hours.
