Boardman – Anthony V. Potesta, 88, of Boardman, passed away peacefully Friday morning, February 15, 2019.
Anthony was born April 18, 1930 in Youngstown, the son of Andrew and Modestina (D’Onofrio) Potesta and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a graduate of The Rayen High School and was employed for over 50 years through the Carpenters Union working mostly with M & S Builders until his retirement.
Anthony was a proud United States Army Veteran earning the rank of Private First Class and received an Honorable Discharge on August 19, 1953 at Fort Sheridan, Illinois.
Anthony was a member of St. Christine Church and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica along with the Carpenters Union 171 where he earned his 50-year pin.
Anthony had many passions throughout his life. He enjoyed dancing every weekend at Kuzman’s Dance Hall and spending time with his family.
He is survived by a sister Rose Montwori of Boardman, a brother Rudy (Patricia) Potesta of Georgia, a sister-in-law Mary Potesta of Youngstown, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother-in-law Mary (Gennaro) Rossi, a brother Eugene Potesta and brother-in-law Anthony Montwori Sr.
Per Anthony’s wishes there will be no calling hours or services held.
Internment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Sanutcci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.
