Darlene C. Datko, 63, passed away on Monday evening, August 14, 2017 surrounded by her loving family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer.
Darlene will always be remembered and adored by all who knew her for her loving and accepting personality, sensational sense of humor and by her ability to light up any room, making everyone smile.
Darlene was born February 27, 1954 in Youngstown, the daughter of Jim and Olly (Laney) Meese.
She graduated from Mohawk Area High School in 1973 and lived in and toured the East Coast before returning to Boardman to raise her family.
Besides being a homemaker, Darlene started her career as a phlebotomist at Youngstown Osteopathic Hospital. She took great pride in her job at Valley Care Lab Services, always going above and beyond, earning the respect of her coworkers and admiration of her patients, whom she especially enjoyed caring for.
Darlene was a very spiritual woman, she loved celebrating that spirituality with her family and friends, finding beauty in every day life. She had many passions throughout her life and especially enjoyed dining and socializing with family and friends. Darlene's generosity and compassionate attitude always had a way of making anyone in her presence feel special.
Darlene leaves to cherish her memory her mother Olly Meese; three children, John (Pamela) Datko of Boardman, Kristen (Paul) Rauschenberg of Austintown and Julie (Matt Rauch) Datko of Columbus; two grandchildren Ethan and Destiny, two brothers Terry (Patti) Meese of New Bedford and James (Cinnamon) Meese of Edinburg, Pa, and sister Diana (Edwin) Culley, of Edinburg, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her loving father, Jim Meese.
There will be a celebration of Darlene’s life on Saturday August 26, 2017 at The Mahoning Valley Grange, 1208 Skyhill Rd, Edinburg, PA 16116 from 2:00pm to 7:00pm.
Arrangements were entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street in Boardman (new location).
