Boardman – There will be a memorial service held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman with Father Peter Totleben O.P. officiating for Gertrude Carson, 96, of Boardman, who passed away peacefully with her family by her side Saturday evening, May 26, 2018 at her residence.

Gertrude will always be remembered for her intelligence and strong-willed personality.

            She was born April 17, 1922, in Campbell, Ohio the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Vincenza (Campajourne) Pannozzo and moved to Italy as a young child before returning to the Youngstown area.

            Besides being a homemaker, Gertrude began her career as a beautician at the age of 18 and was owner of Carson Beauty Salon until her retirement in the early 1990’s

            She was a former member f St. Edwards Church, and a member of the American Businesses Woman Association for many years.

            Gertrude had a passion for singing and following Opera’s and had the honor to participate in one that took place at The Rayen Auditorium.  

            She leaves behind to hold on to her memories a son Robert (Donna) Carson, two grandchildren Paul Carson, and Christine Killa, two great grandchildren Tyler and Nikolas Killa, two sisters Mary Pantaleo and Jean (Joseph) Rosati, and two brothers Dr. Anthony Pannozzo and James (Roberta) Pannozzo along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

            Besides her parents, Gertrude was preceded in death by five brothers Odorisio, John, Richard, Daniel and Frank Pannozzo.

            Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 1:50 pm at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.

            In lieu of flowers material contributions may be made in Gertrude’s name to the Southern Care Hospice, 5401 Ashley Cir. #E, Youngstown, Ohio 44515.

            The family of Gertrude would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the entire staff of Southern Care Hospice for all the care and compassion shown to her throughout this difficult time.
