Youngstown - Gretchen Louise Wade, 68, passed away on Tuesday morning, May 1, 2018, at Oasis Nursing Home in Youngstown with a son and sister at her side after a battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Gretchen was born November 2, 1949, to Elmer and Ramona Wade in Grove City, PA. She grew up in Austintown, OH, and spent much of her life in Boardman and Youngstown, OH.
Gretchen was a homemaker who loved baking, playing poker, and enjoying her grandchildren over the years. Her true gift was making her famous clothes-pin cookies, which made countless people happy and helped her enjoy Christmas with her children and grand-children.
Gretchen is survived by her two sons, Eric (Rebecca) Wade and Robert Shipley, Jr.; three granddaughters, Brittany (Travis) Blevins, Rhiannon Wade, and Lauren Wade; one great-grandson, Max Blevins; her mother, Ramona Wade; three sisters, Marilyn Evan, Linda Seaman, and Sharon Wade; dear friend, Shirley Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, Elmer Wade; companion of over 30 years, Robert Shipley, Sr.; a brother, Richard Wade; and a sister Ramona Wade.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, from 4:30 pm until 6:20 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 6:30 pm, all at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St. Boardman (new location).
In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be forwarded to the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home to assist with expenses.
