Niles – There will be a funeral service held on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., Youngstown, for Jane Elizabeth Jenkins, 87, of Niles, formerly of Youngstown, who went to her Heavenly home on Thursday, October 11, 2018.
Jane will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends for her generosity, kindness, humility, and smile.
She was born December 1, 1930 in Youngstown, the daughter of Scott and Thelma (Scott) Rankin and was a lifelong area resident.
Jane was a proud homemaker and always supported her family in all their endeavors. Her family always knew to turn to her for positive advice and guidance. She enjoyed being a mother to all she encountered.
Jane enjoyed helping others by volunteering for many years at Fish Samaritan House.
Jane had many passions throughout her life. She enjoyed being outdoors and growing flowers, working around her house, playing on her iPad, doing various puzzles, and watching Korean and Japanese dramas. Her greatest passion was being a believer in Jesus Christ and reading her Bible.
Her husband Isaac M. Jenkins whom she married June 24, 1954 died April 13, 1995.
She leaves behind several family members who will undoubtedly hold onto precious memories including her children Linda White, of Niles, Isaac F. Jenkins of Youngstown, Virja (Larry) Knight of Youngstown, Tuniesa Drake of Atlanta, GA, and Lori Jenkins with whom she made her home, nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, a sister, Dorothy Garay of Youngstown, three brothers Stanley W. Rankin of Rhode Island, Donald P. Rankin of Maryland, and Leonard S. Rankin of Youngstown, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Jane was preceded in death by a granddaughter Tuniesa Scott, her twin sister Jean Stewart, sisters Frances Jones and Shirley Weatherall, and brothers Scott S. Rankin Jr., Felix Rankin, Clarence Rankin, Ronald Rankin, Harold Rankin and Larry Rankin.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, October 19, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. at the New Bethel Baptist Church, Youngstown.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman,
Burial will take place at Belmont Park Cemetery.
