Boardman - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, Youngstown,for Josephine McMillen, 90, of Boardman, who peacefully passed away Sunday evening, May 27, 2018 with her loving family by her side.

Josephine was a sweet and loving daughter, sister, wife, aunt, cousin and friend. She will always be remembered and loved for her strong will, energetic, compassionate, and caring personality. 

She was born October 1, 1927 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Eugene and Pasqua (Desantes) Mancini. She moved to the Youngstown area as a young child and grew up on its Eastside.

Josephine was employed at the Eastside Dollar Bank for 39 years retiring in January 1993.

Josephine was a proud and very active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica where she was a member of the St. Monica Guild, the Mothers Crucifix Society, was past president of the Senior Citizens along with being a past member of Parish Council. She was also a member of the Festival Committee where she was chairwoman for the gate for many years, on the Feast Day Committee, helped with the annual St. Joseph’s creampuffs, organized the celebration after the Easter Vigil Mass and volunteered for the Monthly Spaghetti Dinners and St. Vincent DePaul.

Josephine enjoyed traveling yearly with her husband to Myrtle Beach and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Her greatest joy was spending time with her great niece and nephews.

Her husband Harland “Mac” McMillen whom she married July 18, 1973 died October 9, 1993.

She leaves behind to hold onto her precious memoires a nephew Carl (Sherrie) Mancini and a niece Elaine (Mark) Gustovich both of Girard, three great nephews Ryan (Melissa) Mancini of Chicago, Aaron Mancini and Mark Gustovich both of Girard, a great niece Megan (fiancé Frank Powell) Gustovich of Girard and many loving close friends and neighbors.

Besides her parents and husband, Josephine was preceded in death by a brother Americo Mancini, sister-in-law Clara Mancini, and two sisters Hilda Ingrosso and Mary A. Mancini.  

Josephine’s wishes were to have family and friends pay their respects on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 9:00 am until 9:50 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mount Carmel Basilica, Youngstown

Entombment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman (new location).

In lieu of flowers and to honor Josephine’s life, the family requests material donations be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
