Wadsworth - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 12:30 pm at Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 7345 Westview Drive in Boardman with Father Gerald DeLucia officiating for Madeline M. (Montwori) DePerro, 92 of Wadsworth, formerly of Boardman, who passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018.
She was born May 26, 1925, in Youngstown, the daughter of Dominic and Marie (Gaglione) Montwori and grew up on the Eastside of Youngstown. Madeline moved to Wadsworth in 2017 so that she could be closer to her son and grandsons.
Madeline graduated in June of 1943 from East High School and was employed at Strauss Department Store. She also helped in the war effort by being “Rosie the Riveter” working at General Fireproofing.
Madeline was a proud homemaker and a true matriarch for her family. She held true to all the Italian traditions on the holidays. She was an exceptional cook and baker and her family will miss her famous wedding soup and Christmas cookies.
She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and many Senior Citizens groups including St. Christine’s and St. Stanislaus.
Madeline had many passions throughout her life. She enjoyed going to Mountaineer to play the slot machines, traveling and vacationing on the beach with her family.
Her husband George DePerro Sr. whom she married July 6, 1946 at Immaculate Conception Church passed away on August 21, 1991.
She leaves behind to hold onto her memories three children George DePero Jr. of Sarasota, Florida, Michael (Pam) DePero of Wadsworth and Annamarie (Richard) Oliva of Columbus, three grandchildren Matthew DePero, Andrew DePero and Tara (Ben) Johnson, and two great grandsons Reid and Grant Johnson along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Madeline was preceded in death by a brother Anthony Montwori and three sisters Elizabeth Roberts, Ann Jackett and Rose LoGuidice.
Family and friends may call on Friday, May 4, 2018, from 11:30 am until 12:25 pm in the gathering space at Saint Charles Borromeo Church, Boardman.
Burial will take place at Forest lawn Memorial Park, Boardman.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street (new location) in Boardman
