Mary Louise “Lou” Vaughn, 86

Boardman:  There were private funeral services held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, Boardman, on Thursday, May 10, 2018, with Deacon Michael Schlais officiating for Mary Louise “Lou” Vaughn, 86, who passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018 with her family by her side.   

Mary Louise will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends for her loving and strong-willed personality.  

Mary Louise, known by her family and friends as “Lou” was born July 7, 1932 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Charles and Victoria (Pabis) Antonucci.

She was lifelong resident of Youngstown and was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother grandmother and great grandmother.  Lou was an excellent cook and baker and her family will miss her homemade pizzelles and Christmas cookies.  

Lou was a hostess and waitress for several restaurants in the area, Strouss’s, The Mural Room and The Avalon Inn before retiring.

She was a member of Saint Stanislaus Kostka Church where she assisted in making pierogies and a member of the Infant of Prague Guild. Lou was also a member of the Bears Club, the Youngstown Maennercho where she played bocce and golfed in the couples and woman’s leagues and a couples club.   

Lou had many passions throughout her life. She enjoyed dancing with her husband, playing bocce, golf and bowling and watching her grandchildren baseball and softball teams play.  

Her husband Perry Vaughn whom she married on October 22, 1953 died June 10, 2001. 

Lou is survived by her daughter, Vickie (Brian) Gaughen of California, two grandchildren, Dylan Gaughen and Danielle (Terry) Black; and two great grandchildren Trinity and Tianna Black; a sister Janie Crapeticio of Boardman and a nephew, Chuck Crapeticio.  

Per Lou’s request there were no public callings, but the family will be holding a celebration of her life on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 12:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the Youngstown Maennerchor, 831 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions be made in Lous’s name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44512.    

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Hospice of the Valley for the love, care and support that they gave to Lou and her family at this time.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman (new location).

Entombment took place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens, Canfield.
