Mike Nicola RomeoAugust 31, 1936 ~ June 20, 2017 (age 80)
Youngstown: There will be funeral services on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman (new location) with The Very Reverend Monsignor Robert Siffrin officiating, for Mike Nicola Romeo, 80, of Youngstown, who passed away after a long illness at Hospice House on Tuesday evening, June 20, 2017.
Mike was born August 31, 1936 in the Brier Hill area of Youngstown, the son of the late Dominic and Margaret (McClafferty) Romeo. He attended The Rayen School and was a lifelong area resident.
Mike was an auto mechanic and worked for Tom Fiffick’s, Zizzo’s and later for Monroe, as a pipefitter, where he retired from. After his retirement, Mike worked for National Security for over 10 years and was the security guard at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica for 8 years.
He was a member of Our lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, and was a proud member of the ITAM, Post 3, where he served as a bartender.
Mike had many passions throughout his life. He enjoyed playing video poker, buying and fixing up cars to resale, doing scratch off lottery tickets, and watching TV. He also enjoyed building and working with wood along with being an avid Cleveland Indians fan. Mike also loved spending time with his nephew Steven Ruberto, especially when they would go fishing.
Mike is survived by his wife of 10 years, the former Mary Louise (Debelyak) Mancini, whom he married on August 24, 2007 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, three children, Steven (Linda) Raney of Indiana, Gina (Todd) Pumphrey of Texas and Michelle Romeo of Youngstown, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Mike was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, Jay Romeo, Joseph Romeo, William Bonacker, Katie DeBaise, Margie Borsanti, Madeline Ruberto and Frances Sanders.
Family and friends may call on Monday, June 26, 2017 from noon until 12:50 pm at Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman (new location).
Burial will take place at Four Mile Run Cemetery, Austintown.
