Youngstown – There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish – St. Matthias Church, 915 Cornell Ave., Youngstown, with Father John Jerek officiating, preceded by a 9:15 am prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman, for Theodore M. “Ted” Gabrick, 72, of Youngstown, who passed away Saturday evening, August 18, 2018.

Ted will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for being a quiet and gentle soul. He was a man of incredible loyalty to his family and friends along with an unwavering faith in his church.

He was born February 9, 1946 in Youngstown, the son of Andrew and Mary (Matasek) Gabrick and was a lifelong area resident.

Ted was a 1964 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and then heard the call of his country to protect the freedoms and liberties we live under each day. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps earning the rank of Sergeant. Ted proudly severed during the Vietnam War where he was wounded in action and was award a Purple Heart. He received the following decorations for his service; the Good Conduct Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.

Ted’s most current employment was with Source Providers as an assembler. 

Ted had many passions throughout his life. He enjoyed collecting and working on old cars, listening to all varieties of music and was a huge Buffalo Bills fan. 

He leaves behind to hold onto his precious memories his beloved wife of over 39 years the former Julie Manna whom he married August 17, 1979, three sons Burton Thorpe Sr. of Youngstown, Robert Thorpe of Cleveland and Nick Gabrick of Youngstown, two grandchildren Chase Gabrick and Burton Thorpe Jr., three brothers Joseph (Irma Jean) Gabrick of Austintown, Edward Gabrick of Youngstown and his twin brother Thomas (Debbie) Gabrick of Poland along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Mary jane .

Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, August 23, 2018, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St. Boardman (new location).

Burial will take place at Tod Homestead Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the great men of the Tri-State Marine Corps League and the United States Marine Corps.
