Obituary

Youngstown - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Christine Church, Youngstown, with Father Robert Lanterman officiating preceded by a 9:15 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman for Albert P. "Creamy" Donofrio Sr., 90, of Youngstown, who passed away Thursday evening, June 5, 2014 with his loving family by his side. Creamy will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for his smile and wonderful personality. He was born April 28, 1924 in Youngstown, the son of Anthony and Josephine (Finamore) Donofrio and was a lifelong area resident. Creamy was a proud owner and operator of Al Donofrio Painting Company and he retired in 1986. He was a member of St. Christine Church and a lifetime member of the Painters Union 476, the VFW Post 3538, the Arco Club, ITAM Post 3 and Bagnolese Men's Club. Creamy was a United States Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II where he earned the rank of Corporal and served with the 1346th Army Air Forces Unit. His unit served in China, Burma and Indian for over 15 months. He was awarded the following decorations and citations the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct medal, the Victory Medal, and the Distinguished Unit Badge and received an Honorable Discharge on February 22, 1946 at Camp Atterbury Separation Center. Creamy enjoyed playing golf, bowling and gardening but most of all he loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He leaves behind to hold on to his precious memories his beloved wife of over 65 years the former Helen (Suszczynski) Sushinski, three sons Donald Donofrio of Youngstown, Albert P. Jr. (Penny) Donofrio of Boardman and David (Vickie) Donofrio of Austintown, seven grandchildren Krystal, Daveen, Clayton, Matthew, Vincent, and Nicholas Donofrio and Athena (Ryan) Church, two great grandchildren Madison and Mason, a brother Rudy (Willie) Donofrio of Boardman, and two sisters Rose Pugileas and Eda Constantino both of Austintown. Besides his parents, Creamy was preceded in death by a brother Vito Donofrio. Friends may call on Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Burial will take place at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Campbell, where military honors will be held by the great men of the United States Air Force.
