Canfield - There will be an 11:00 a.m. prayer service held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market Street, Boardman, for Andrew Neil "Andy" Pernotto, 90, of Canfield, who peacefully passed away Wednesday afternoon. Andrew will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for his loving way, his kindness, and his sense of humor, He was born March 20, 1922 in Youngstown, the son of Angelo and Marie Antoinette (Colucci) Pernotto and was a lifelong area resident. Andrew and his brothers Luke and Humbert started the Pernotto Office Supply from May 1960 until March of 1985 which was a landmark in downtown Youngstown for over twenty years. He also was a part time photographer with Botch-Pernotto Studios. He was a golf caddy in his youth at Mill Creek Park Golf Course which began his passion for the game of golf. Andy was a 1940 graduate of Wilson High School and after the war he returned and attended Clarence White Jr. Photography School in Bath, Maine. Andrew served in the United States Army during World War II where he earned the rank of Technician Fourth Grade. His occupation specialty was Radio Operator and he specifically served as a Telegrapher which contributed to aid in the war effort. He initially served in North Africa on General Eisenhower's Staff and later landed in Southern France with continued service in the European Theater of Operations. His military decorations and citations for his brave service include the WWII Victory Medal, European - Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Stars and the Marksman Badge. He enjoyed gardening, photography, walking his beloved dogs Hogan and Austin in his nearby trees, and reading stories of American history. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of over 62 years the former Evelyn Kistler whom he married October 7, 1950, a daughter Kathleen Ainsley of Streetsboro, a grandson Galen of New York City, and a brother Michael (Donna) Pernotto of Austintown. Besides his parents; he was preceded in death by his sister, Angela Harris, and six brothers: Angelo, Stephen, Luke, Anthony, Humbert, and, identical twin, Peter Pernotto. Friends may call on Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:55 a.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market Street, Boardman, Ohio. Burial will take place at Ellsworth Cemetery with military honors provided by the great veterans of the United States Army.
