Obituary

Canfield - There will be a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial held on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Charles Borromeo Church, with Father Gerald DeLucia as celebrant, for Ann (DeSalvo) Sevako, 102, of Canfield, who passed away from natural causes. Ann was the youngest of eight children born to Samuel and Antonia (Taormina) DeSalvo in Hillsville, Pennsylvania on October 8, 1913 and then grew up in Lowellville, Ohio. Her joy in life was cooking and baking for her, family, friends and neighbors. She honed her cooking skills while working for Hrynko's Catering for many years and then was a proud homemaker. She loved traveling with Matt across the United States and Europe. Ann was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church since 1953. She was part of the Greatest Generation and was proud of her efforts to support our troops during World War II working at the Ravenna Arsenal as "Rosie the Riveter". She leaves behind to hold onto her precious memories two children Ronald of Canfield with whom she made her home and was her companion and caregiver for over 20 years, a daughter Rosalyn (Terry) Hulburt of Valrico, Florida, two grandchildren Douglas and Alissa Hulburt, two sisters-in-law Sr. Bernardo and Sr. Leocadia both of the Sisters of St. Basil, a special nephew Sam Seidita and his wife Avis with whom she had a special bond for over 60 years, and her good friends Jean and Joe Simpson along with many nieces and nephews and grandnephews. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Matthew, sisters Frances DeSalvo, Lena LaBarba (Joe), Mary Mongine Louie), Josephine Seidita (Frank), and Rose DeSalvo and her brothers Frank DeSalvo, Joe DeSalvo (Pat) and a sister-in-law Sr. Dorothy. Friends and family may pay their respects on Saturday, October 31, 2015 from 9:00 am until 9:55 am at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 7345 Westview Dr., Boardman. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Boardman. . Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman.
