Youngstown - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Youngstown, with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio officiating, preceded by a 9:00 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. Boardman, for Anthony N. "Jazzer" DeNicholas, 90, of Youngstown, who passed away Friday morning, December 5, 2014 with his loving family by his side. Anthony will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for his sense of humor, his quotes, his quick wit and for being an excellent father and grandfather. He was born May 27, 1924 in Youngstown, the son of Dominic and Mary (Battista) DeNicholas and was a lifelong area resident. Anthony was employed as a bricklayer for over 50 years through the Union working with various contractors throughout the area. He attended The Rayen High School and then was a proud United States Army Veteran of World War II. He earned the rank of Private First Class and participated in battles in Normandy, Northern France, the Rhinelands and Ardennes. Anthony was awarded the following decorations for his faithful service to our country; the Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign medal with 3 Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal. He received an Honorable Discharge on January 10, 1946. Anthony was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church and the Bricklayers Union Local #8 and was extremely proud when he was awarded his 50 year Gold Card. Anthony enjoyed discussing current events, collecting coins and War World II memorabilia, attending horse races, and was an avid sports fan. His wife the former Carmel Tricoli whom he married May 21, 1949 died August 9, 1999. He leaves behind to hold on to his precious memories his children Anthony D. DeNicholas of Youngstown, Nina Lowery (FiancAC. Donald Shina) of Austintown and Tina Bellino of Mineral Ridge and four grandchildren Tarah (Steve) Ortz of Boardman, Nicholas Bellino of Mineral Ridge, Angie DeNicholas of Youngstown and Carly DeNicholas of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Besides his parents and wife, Anthony was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters Giuseppe, Guy, Joseph D., and Dan DeNicholas, Leonard DeNicolo, Victoria Hack and Mary Leo. Friends may call on Monday, December 8, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home 4700 Market St., Boardman. Entombment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown with military honors provided by the great men from the United States Army. In lieu of flowers material contributions may be made in Anthony's name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, Ohio 44512.
