Canfield - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mt. Carmel, Youngstown, with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio Jr. as celebrant, preceded by a 9:10 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Anthony D. "Tony" Cascarelli, 69, of Canfield, who passed away Tuesday afternoon, September 29, 2015 at his home with his loving family by his side after bravely fighting cancer for over 7 years. Tony will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for his sense of humor along with his outgoing and caring personality. Anthony was born June 19, 1946 in Youngstown, the son of Carmen and Josephine (Frank) Cascarelli and was a lifelong area resident. He was a 1965 graduate of East High School and then attended Youngstown State University majoring in History. Before retiring in 2006 Tony was employed at Kauffman's Warehouse in North Jackson working as a material handler and was also self employed as a aluminum siding contractor. He was a long time active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica. Tony proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He earned the rank of Sergeant and was awarded the following decorations the Nation Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Air Force Medal, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. He was awarded and Honorable Discharge on April 1, 1970. Tony enjoyed traveling and was an avid historian. He loved spending time with his family and they were always a top priority. He leaves behind to hold on to his precious memories his beloved wife of over 35 years the former Patricia "Pat" Scarazzo whom he married on August 30, 1980, a brother Ralph A. (Carol) Cascarelli of Youngstown, three sisters Mary Maytas of Boardman, Carmella (Mike) Shura of North Carolina and Theresa Hankey of Austintown and with 65 nieces and nephews over three generations along with his beloved pet cat Emily. Besides his parents Tony was preceded in death by four brothers Nick, Frank, Alfonso and Peter Cascarelli and a sister Angie Conn. Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, October 2, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home 4700 Market St., Boardman. Burial will take place at Green Haven memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the great man and woman of the United States Air Force. Tony's family would like to express their sincere Thanks for all the dedication and care that was shown to him during his illness from his team of doctors, the entire staff of the Blood and Cancer Center, all the volunteers from the American Cancer Society and also the Senior Independence Hospice.
