Boardman - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Youngstown, with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio officiating, preceded by a 10:30 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Antonietta M. Petrillo, 86, of Boardman, who passed away at her daughter's residence on Tuesday morning, September 4, 2012 with her loving family by her side. Antonietta will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends for being an exceptional mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker. She was born September 29, 1925 in Latina di Baia, Caserta, Italy the daughter of Raffaele and Maria L. (Pascarella) DiMatteo and moved to the United States in 1949. Antonietta was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting making very detailed pieces for all of her family members as keepsakes. Her family will miss greatly all Antonietta's excellent cooking and baking skills from her homemade pastas and tomato sauces to wonderful Easter breads that were decorated so perfectly. Her biggest joy was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and most recently during her illness when her two grandsons Nathan and Jason aided in taking care of their grandmother. Her husband Giuseppe Petrillo whom she married November 5, 1944 died April 30, 2006. She leaves behind to hold on to her precious memories a daughter Carmela (David) Ireland of Mansfield with whom she made her home, seven grandchildren Jason (Rose) Ireland, Nathan (Bridget) Ireland, Alessio (Kelly) Caruso, Joseph Caruso, Giuseppe (Tracy) Petrillo, Carmine (Melissa) Petrillo, and Frank (Aroa) Petrillo, eight great grandchildren Gabriella, Alexandra, Julianna, Sophia, Angelo, Vincent, Morgan and Quinton, a brother Anthony (Candida) DiMatteo of Boardman, a sister Teresa (Giovanni) Itri of Italy, and two very special friends Pierina Barone and Giuseppino Ricciardi who spoke to her daily. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son Carmine Petrillo, a daughter and son-in-law Gelsomina (Filippo) Caruso, and a brother Luca DiMatteo. Friends may call on Friday, September 7, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Entombment will take place at Lake Park Cemetery.
