POLAND - Armand "Duke" Joseph DiPietro Sr., 85, peacefully passed away on May 6, 2026 at the Hospice House. Duke was born in Youngstown, Ohio on April 24, 1941. He is the son of the late Armand G. DiPietro and Bertha A. (Veon) DiPietro. He is a member of the 1959 graduating class of East High School in Youngstown. He played football as a guard and made the all city football team and was later inducted into the East High School Football Hall of Fame in 1998. Duke worked at General Motors in Lordstown, Ohio for 40 years prior to retirement. One of his favorite hobbies included sports, as he was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Guardians and attended games throughout his life. He also loved reading and learning about history, as he always kept a book or The Youngstown Vindicator right by his rocking chair. He also regularly donated blood through blood drives, helping save many lives. Most importantly, Duke cherished spending time with his family and was always supportive through family vacations, sports events, commencements, dance recitals, you name it! Duke is survived by his wife Anne (Rovnak) DiPietro of Poland; four children: Joseph (Susan) DiPietro of Boerne, Texas, Dominic (Maria) DiPietro of Chicago, Illinois, Armand (Kerri) DiPietro Jr. of New Castle, Pennsylvania, and Deanne (Joseph) DeMarco of Canfield, Ohio; three grandchildren: Carly DiPietro and Manny (Liz) DiPietro of New Castle, and Jefferey DeMarco of Canfield; and one great granddaughter Ivy DiPietro of New Castle. Additionally, he is survived by two sisters: Shirley DePietro of Youngstown and Judith (DePietro) Smith.
He is preceded in death by two brothers: Carmen DePietro and John DePietro; and one sister Carol (DePietro) Lennox. He is survived by multiple nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call Monday, May 18, 2026 from 8:30 am to 10:15 am at the Rossi Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St. Boardman, OH 44512, where prayers will begin at 10:15 am.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am at Holy Family Church, 2729 Center Rd. Poland, OH 44514, celebrated by Rev. John Rovnak.
