Obituary

Youngstown - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Youngstown, with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio Jr. officiating, preceded by an 8:45 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Bambina L. "Babe" Petrolla, 88, of Youngstown, who was carried off by angels to her Heavenly home Monday evening, April 8, 2013 with her loving family by her side. She was born June 24, 1924 in Alanno Pescara, Italy the daughter of Battista and Italia (Verrocchio) Pecchia and moved to America in 1929. Babe was an excellent homemaker and seamstress where she worked out of her home for many years. She was also a proud Notary Public and learned to use the computer very well at the age of 75. . She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, and enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, working in her flower garden and traveling to Italy and Australia to visit with her relatives. Babe's family will miss all her excellent Italian cooking and baking from the homemade pasta's and breads to all the birthday cakes she made for her grandchildren. Her family was the center of her life especially all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her husband James D. Petrolla whom she married April 14, 1945 died June 12, 2003. She leaves behind to hold on to her precious memories her children Sandra (Joseph) Cattaneo of Boardman, Michele (Robert) Walley of North Lima and James J. (Darlene) Petrolla of Poland, ten grandchildren Carla, Joy and Joseph (Rhonda) Cattaneo, Leanne (Eric) Zelesnak, Stacey (Michael) Kiene, Hogie and Skye Walley, and Genna, Krista and Jimmy Joe (FiancAC. Nomiki Frangopoulos) Petrolla, six great grandchildren Deena, Connor and Gabriella Cattaneo, Chase and Riley Zelesnak and Carlina Walley, two brothers Mario Pecchia of Poland and Cosmo Pecchia of Boardman and two sisters Annette Cardon of Canfield and Theresa DeGaetano of Cleveland. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Friends may call on Friday, April 12, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman.
