Obituary

Youngstown - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception - Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, 400 Lincoln Park Dr., Youngstown, with Rev. Msgr. John Zuraw officiating, preceded by a 9:15 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Bernadine Gallinella, 90, of Youngstown, who passed away Sunday morning, June 19, 2011 at the Hospice House with her loving family by her side. Bernadine will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends. She was born April 19, 1921 in Erie, Pennsylvania the daughter of George Sr. and Florence (Sanborn) Pascarzi and moved to Youngstown as a child and grew up in Smokey Hollow. Bernadine was employed at General Fireproofing during World War II and then worked in the Pharmacy at St. Elizabeth Hospital and later at McKelvey's Department Store along with being a homemaker. She was a long time member of Immaculate Conception Church, the Young at Hearts at the church, and the Knights of Columbus Council #5371 Ladies Auxiliary. Bernadine enjoyed playing Bingo with her GF friends, cooking, the outdoors, and going to concerts in the park, but she especially loved spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren. Her husband John H. Gallinella whom she married April 6, 1942 died November 12, 1985. She leaves behind to hold on to her precious memories three daughters Delores (William) Sweeney of Florida, Diana (Gary) Endress of Youngstown and Deborah Gallinella with whom she made her home, eight grandchildren Helen, Joe, Heather, John, Aaron, Cory, Dawn, and Lori, eight great grandchildren William, Tyler, Shane, Desiree, Anthony, Mason, Sophia, and Olivia, and a sister Elaine Shilling of Girard. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son John A. Gallinella, two brothers George Pascarzi Jr. and Anthony Pascarzi who died as an infant, a daughter-in-law Janice Gallinella and a son-in-law Joseph Rudy. Friends may call on Friday, June 24, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Burial will take place at Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown. Material contributions may be made in Bernadine's honor to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Rd., Poland Ohio 44514. Bernadine's family would like to thank the Dr. Charles Wilkins and his entire staff along with the entire staff and caregivers at the Hospice House for all their care and compassion they shown Bernadine during illness.
