Youngstown - There will be a funeral service held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 10:00 am at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., Youngstown, with the Reverend Kenneth Simon officiating, for Catherine W. Leftwich, 80, of Youngstown, who was called home to the Lord early Tuesday morning, March 29, 2016 with her loving family by her side. Catherine will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends for her wonderful personality and smile. She was born November 11, 1935 in Tylertown, Mississippi, the daughter of James and Rhenetta (Hampton) Ranceful and moving to Youngstown in 1957. She attended school in Tylertown and then upon moving to Youngstown she completed her schooling at South High School. Catherine continued her education by attending Youngstown State University. Catherine began her career working at Kroger's Grocery Store for ten years and retired from Job and Family Services after 27 years of service as a case worker and eligibility specialist. After retirement Catherine then decided to work for another ten years at Macy Department Store. Catherine was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, serving on the Usher Board, Hospitality Committee and was president of the Altar Guild for 2 years. She was a faithful member of the Rising Sun Chapter #82 O.E.S., serving as a worthy Matron and Amorant Grand Chapter Grand Deputy for District 3, a member of the ASIR Court #200 serving as Illustrious Commandress on the Imperial Court Credential Committee and was Grand Deputy of the Oasis of Youngstown for 4 years. Catherine was Vice Queen Mother of the String of Pearls, a member of the Red Hatters of Youngstown, a loyal member of Classic Ladies as well as an active member of Opes Union. In between her busy schedule she enjoyed cooking large holiday meals for her family and friends. Catherine also enjoyed golfing, shopping, and baking outstanding cakes that everyone will miss dearly. Catherine leaves behind to hold onto her precious memories her husband Petross, her children Betty (Gerald) McPhatter, Patsy (Gilbert) Jackson, Charles (Cleone) Donald, and Catrina Donald all of Youngstown, 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, her siblings Lorene Lewis and Eddie Ruth Warren both of Tylertown, Mississippi, and Edith (Albert) Hart of New Orleans, Louisiana, a sister-in-law Emma Ranceful of Decatur, Alabama along with many other relatives and friends. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents Lula and Devitt Hampton, husbands Jerome Donald and Henry Woods, a daughter Mildred Donald and a brother James Monroe Ranceful Jr. Friends may call on Saturday, April 2, 2016 from 9:00 am until 9:30 am at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., Youngstown where the Eastern Star service will be held at 9:30 am prior to the funeral service. Burial will take place at Tod Homestead Cemetery, Youngstown. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman.
