Canfield- Charles Garcia, 81, of Canfield, died April 21, 2011 peacefully at home with his family by his side. He will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends. Charles was born March 6, 1930 in Santiago De La Puebla, Salamanca, Spain, son of Leoncio M. Garcia and Maria Mercedes Garcia and came to the United States as a young boy. As a young man he worked for his family business Garcia Basket Factory and also had a long career as a realtor with Bartholomew Real Estate which were both located in Boardman, Ohio. Charles then had a career with ITT Technical Institute in Youngstown and was promoted to be a supervisor in Dayton, Ohio and finally accepted another promotion to be a manger in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Charles is a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War and earned the rank of Private First Class. His military occupation was Rifleman. He had served as a past president of the Youngstown Spanish Club. He and his wife enjoyed traveling especially to Italy and Spain, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends. He leaves behind to hold on to his precious memories his wife of over 37 years the former Gina Scaccia whom he married August 25, 1973, a son Charles (Linda) Garcia of Jacksonville, Florida, three daughters Linda Garcia of St. Petersburg, Florida, Kathy (Edward) McTeer of Beaufort, South Carolina, and Gail Arena of St. Petersburg, Florida, three stepchildren Dino Mileto of Corpus Christi, Texas, Georgette (Richard) Brinko of Hubbard, Ohio, and Jennifer (Richard) Antonucci of Boardman, Ohio, a sister Maria LoGiudice of Boardman, Ohio, a niece Karen (Bob) Merritt of Mantua, Ohio, a nephew Curt LoGiudice of Jacksonville, Florida, 19 grandchildren including Erica and Gina Antonucci who he was especially close with, 14 great grandchildren, as well as many friends especially those from Panera Bread in Boardman and his dear close friends Al (Michelle) Russo. There will be no calling hours or services held and a caring cremation will take place as per Charles request. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The American Cancer Society 525 North Broad Street Canfield, Ohio 44406 in Charles honor.
