Youngstown - There was a Mass of Christian Burial held on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Youngstown, with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio Jr. officiating, for Claire M. Costa, 95, of Youngstown, who passed away on Friday afternoon, August 9, 2013. Claire will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends. She was born October 21, 1917 in the Smokey Hollow part of Youngstown, the daughter of Mario and Rosa (Castagnola) Costa and was a lifelong area resident. Claire worked at a hotel after graduating from The Rayen High School in 1936. During World War II she worked at the Ravenna Arsenal and later worked for General Motors Packard Electric Division as an inspector and retired after 30 years of service. She was a lifelong and active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church where she belonged to the Mothers of Crucifix Society, the Senior Citizens Group and a volunteer for the Spaghetti Dinners. Claire loved her church and attending mass, traveling and socializing with her friends. She is survived by her niece Jeanette (Pat) Trell who were her main caregivers, a nephew Guy Stevens Jr. and many great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents Claire was preceded in death by a brother Robert Costa, a sister and brother-in-law Anna (Guy) Stevens, two nieces Angeline and her husband Joe Simon and Virginia Stevens and a nephew along with good friend Dr. Robert R. Costa. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Burial took place at Belmont Park Cemetery.
