Boardman – There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 7345 Westview Dr., Boardman, for Clara M. Chick, 89, of Boardman, who passed away peacefully Thursday morning with her loving family by her side. Clara was born December 4, 1924 in Youngstown, the daughter of Enrico and Jennie (Spinucci) "Cicchi" Chick and was a lifelong area resident. Clara attended The Rayen High School and was employed as a bookkeeper for Golden Age Beverage Company. Upon marrying the love of her life, John, she then became a wonderful homemaker. Clara loved to cook and bake all the Italian delicacies, especially her famous manicotti. Clara will always be remembered for her deep faith and her dedication to serving others. She was a very active member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, where she was a Sacristan and a Eucharistic Minister, administering communion in the church and delivering to the homebound for many years. She also belonged to the Mission Circle, the Charlie's Angels who supported the Ursuline Nuns, the St. Charles Garden Club and the St. Charles Bowling League. Clara avidly enjoyed crafts, sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening, bowling, golfing, and cake decorating, but above all she loved spending time with her family and friends. Her beloved husband John M. Chick, whom she married August 26, 1946, died April 3, 1998. Clara leaves behind to hold onto her precious memories her children John M. Chick Jr. of Boardman and Gina (James) Khoury of Los Angeles, California, two sisters Barbara (Mike) DeLucia and Sandra Rodkey, both of Youngstown, two sisters-in-law, Phyllis (Bob) Tennant of North Carolina and Tina Chick of Oregon along with a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends. Besides her parents and husband, a daughter, Carol Chick, two brothers, Armand and Harry Chick, and a sister, Gloria Chick, preceded Clara in death. Friends may call on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman and on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Boardman. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown. In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made in Clara's name to St. Charles Borromeo Church, 7345 Westview Dr., Boardman, Ohio 44512 or to the Ursuline Mother House, 4250 Shields Rd., Canfield, Ohio 44406.
