Obituary

Boardman - David K. "Dave" Keffler, 83, passed away Wednesday May 4, 2016 at Sunrise of Poland. Dave was born June 27, 1932 in Canton, Ohio, the son of William and Loretta Keffler. Dave grew up in Canton. After graduation from high school, Dave then attended Notre Dame and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. Dave proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1954 to 1956 and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and earned an Honorable Discharge. While serving his Country he married the love of his life, Rosemary Marinelli. Together they raised seven children. In 1958 Dave became a registered Professional Engineer. He worked for various construction companies and also supervised then subsequently became general manager of the Highway Division for the State of Ohio. In 1968 he started Keffler Construction Company becoming President and CEO. During his many years as a bridge contractor, Dave successfully built bridges all over the State of Ohio and received numerous awards for his accomplishments. In his golden years he became an avid golfer. Dave purchased and further developed Gator Trace Country Club in Fort Pierce, Florida. He was a social member of the Saxon Club and Bears Club. He also belonged to Sebring Country Club. Dave and his wife Rosemary have many fond memories of vacations they had taken with the Ohio Contractors Association. Dave and his family also enjoyed their many memorable summer vacations to Lake Erie. He was an avid Notre Dame fan and attended many football games with his friends and family. Dave was a devoted member of St. Dominic Church and rarely missed a Sunday service. Dave is survived by his wife Rosemary Marinelli, his bride of 60 years, 7 children Jan (Joe) Evans, Joan (Lou) Schiavoni, Dave (Bonnie) Keffler, Mike (Betsy) Keffler, Nancy (Larry) Roberts, Kathy Apple and Paul (Jennifer) Keffler. He also is survived by 19 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Dave is preceded in death by 4 sisters and 1 brother. There will be Mass of Christian Burial held on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Dominic Church, 77 E Lucius Ave. Youngstown, Ohio. Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday, before mass, from 9:30 to 10:20 a.m. at St. Dominic Church. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Dave's family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the caring staff at Sunrise of Poland and Crossroads Hospice of Northeast Ohio.
