Boardman - David A. Spisak, 70, of Boardman, passed away early Saturday morning, September 20, 2014. David will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for his friendly personality. He was born February 26, 1944 in Youngstown, the son of Victor and Christine (Maino) Spisak and was a lifelong area resident. David was a 1963 graduate of Boardman High School and then was drafted into the United States Army. He served his country during the Vietnam War and earned the rank of Private 4 Class. He continued to serve his country in the United States Army reserves until he was honorable discharged May 8, 1972. He was employed for many years as a machinist with various companies throughout the Mahoning Valley. Later in life, David was very active while living at Vista Care Center, Boardman where he put together challenging puzzles which were sold for the profits to be donated to the American Cancer Society. He also helped coordinate and actively participated many of the annual functions at the center, and was named Prince of Valentine's Day in 2012. He leaves behind to hold on to his memories three daughters Shannan (Todd Lang) Spisak of New York, Megan Gilbert of Arcanum, Ohio and Erin Spisak of Cleveland, two granddaughters Alexis and Carsen Gilbert, a sister Victoria (Ed) Crogan of Arizona and a brother Arthur Spisak of Iowa. Besides his parents David was preceded in death by a brother Dennis Spisak. Per David's request a caring cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at a later date for immediate family members. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman.
