Obituary

BOARDMAN-DOMINIC GARRITANO, 97 There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Charles Church, Boardman celebrated by Fr. Philip Rogers for Dominic Garritano who passed away Friday morning at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Boardman. He was born December 31, 1913 in St. Lucito Calabria Italy, a son of Nicola and Filomena Garritano. Dominic was a heroic member of the Italian Army for six years during WWII. Dominic moved to the Youngstown area in 1953 and became a crane operator for Wean United where he worked until retirement in 1979. He was well known for assisting and creating beautiful landscaping and gardens for many Boardman residents. He will be sadly missed by his wife Ersilia Lauri whom he married on October 24, 1948; his daughter Sandra Greaves of New York City; his grand-daughter Gillian Greaves also of New York City as well as many close family and friends. He was preceded in death by his three sisters, Grace, Lina, Joanna and his four brothers, Matteo, Achille, Rico and Ettore. At 97 Dominic is the end of a generation. Dominic is dearly loved by family and friends and will be sadly missed. Friends may call from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Charles, one hour prior to the service.
