Struthers -Struthers - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Parish, St. Nicholas Church, Struthers, preceded by a 9:45 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Donna Jean (Restivo) Marciano, 65, of Struthers, who passed away peacefully Monday evening, September 19, 2016 with her loving husband by her side after a courageous 4-year battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease. Donna will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends for her humble, upbeat and funny personality along with living life to the fullest. She was born November 18, 1950 in Youngstown, the daughter of Dominic and Josephine (Cervello) Restivo and was a lifelong area resident. Donna was a 1968 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and then earned her Bachelor's and Master's Degree both in Education from Youngstown State University. Donna was a school teacher for over 30 years with the Struthers School System and was the Guidance Counselor at Struthers High School for the last 10 years of her career and retired in 2009. She was a long time member of at Christ Our Savior Parish, St. Nicholas Church, the Struthers Education Association and the Struthers School Foundation. Donna was inducted in 1997 to the Mahoning Valley Ohio Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa which is a professional fraternity in education which promotes Free Public Education. She was honored in 2007 by the Beeghley College of Education as a counselor for her outstanding contributions to the profession and then in 2016, Donna was honored by the Struthers Rotary Community Corps and awarded the Struthers Hometown Hero Award. She had many passions throughout her life and was truly family oriented. Donna enjoyed shopping with her sister, going on vacation to the ocean with her family, spending time with her nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and going on the monthly bus gambling trips from St. Nick's. Donna loved animals and upon retirement she took up swimming and golfing. Donna leaves behind to hold onto her precious memories her beloved husband of over 36 years Nicholas A. "Nick" Marciano whom she married October 13, 1979 at St. Nicholas Church, two brothers Joseph (Michele) Restivo of Struthers and Alphonso (Char) Restivo of Canton, two brother-in-law's Raymond Marciano of Florida and Joseph Rocco Simari of Cleveland and her beloved Border Collie Bella, along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends Besides her parents, Donna was preceded in death by a sister Joanne Marie Simari and two beloved dogs Queeny and Elroy. Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home 4700 Market St., Boardman. Entombment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
