Obituary

Boardman - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Church with Rev. Shawn Conoboy officiating for Dora Carmel Battaglia, 83, of Boardman, who passed away Monday evening February 28, 2011. Dora will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends. She was born June 16, 1927 in Youngstown the daughter of Nicholas E. and Mary Colla and was a lifelong area resident. Dora owned and operated Dora's Beauty Shop on Millcreek Blvd. for many years as a beautician. She was a 1944 graduate of South High School and was a member of St. Charles Church. Dora always enjoyed when the couples club "The Gang" got together which were old childhood friends from the neighborhood and their spouses and families. She was an excellent cook and baker and always looked forward to spending the holiday's with her family and friends but especially with her grandchildren. Dora was very artistic and enjoyed making homemade crafts where she would crochet blankets and baby dolls for her family. She also enjoyed dancing with her husband along with playing the piano and organ. Her husband Anthony Battaglia whom she married June 9, 1945 died November 26, 2008. She leaves behind to hold on to her precious memories her four children Diane (Tony) Capple and Gary (Susan) Battaglia both of Boardman, Anthony "Rik" (Sheri) Battaglia of Akron, and Kim Geffert of Canfield, eleven grandchildren Tony (Melissa) Capple, John (Melissa Jean) Capple, Alana (Patrick) Campbell, Patrick, Erick, Jamie, Mick and John Battaglia, Nikki (Keith) Mason, Mike and Toni Marie Geffert, a great grandson John Dario Capple, and a sister Nancy Bucci of North Lima. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters Mary Guerra and Agnes Sorce, and three brothers Alfred, Paul and Nicholas Colla. Friends may call on Sunday, March 6, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman and again on Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. at St. Charles Church.
