Obituary

Youngstown - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Friday, August 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Brendan Church,, with Father Kevin Peters officiating, preceded by a 9:10 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Dorothy M. (Minnie) Sammartino, 79, of Youngstown who passed away on Monday evening, August 6, 2012 with her loving family by her side and was blessed with the love of her family and friends during this difficult time. She was born September3, 1932 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Frank and Luci (Etri) Minnie and was a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of East High School. Dorothy worked at Century Foods, Loblaws, and Youngstown City Schools Cafeteria worker where she retired from. She was a member of St. Brendan's Church and the alter rosary society, worked at various parish functions including bingo and festivals. Dorothy enjoyed her various card clubs and visiting casinos with her family and friends. She enjoyed summers at Geneva on the Lake, and cooking and baking for her family and friends. Her husband Stephen A. Sammartino Jr. whom she married on November 27, 1952 passed away on May 12, 2001. She leaves to cherish her memory a son Steve (Amy) Sammartino III of Austintown, two daughters Beverly O'Leary of Austintown, and Mary Jo (Michael) Sirohman of Louisville, six grandchildren, Steve A. IV and Michael Sammartino, Stephanie O'Leary, and Justina, Nicholas and Anna Sirohman, a sister, Helen Farina and two brothers, James (Melva) and Michael (Edwina) Minnie along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters, Rose Martini and Christine Chance. Friends may call on Thursday, August 9, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
