Youngstown - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Youngstown, with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio officiating, preceded by a 9:15 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Edith J. DeFrank, 79, of Youngstown, who was peacefully called home to her Lord Jesus early Tuesday May 17, 2011. Edith will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends. She was born July 30, 1931 in Bovard, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John and Angeline (Simeone) DeFrank and moved to the Youngstown area as a young girl. Edith was a graduate of East High School in 1950. She retired from Strouss Department Store in downtown Youngstown where she worked in the central wrap division for over 30 years. Upon her retirement she became a caregiver for her mother Angeline for many years. Edith spent many years as a volunteer at Holy Family School helping with lunch and play ground duty. She was a very active and devoted member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Youngstown where she was an Adoration Minister, a festival volunteer, member of the church cleaning committee, and the Mothers of Crucifix Society. Edith enjoyed baking, and especially loved spending time with her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who were like her own children. She leaves behind to hold on to her memories two brothers Sullivan DeFrank of Sun City, Arizona and Stephen DeFrank of Estero, Florida, two sisters Grace Ruess of Poland and Louise Fawcett of Youngstown, nieces and nephews Carol Wadell, Gary DeFrank, Paul and Jerry Ruess, Mary Jo Martin, Anthony DeFrank, Sullivan and Robert DeFrank, Linda Clark, Jackie Goehring, Anthony and Richard Fawcett, Barb Oles, Cindy Serich, Lynn Koshut, Annette Wiemels, Anthony Quattro, Lisa Neill, Matthew DeFrank, Stephen DeFrank and Janine Naples along with numerous great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great- great nephews, cousins and friends. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers Dominic, Andrew, Anthony, and John DeFrank, two sisters Laura Cook and Anna Quattro, a nephew Michael DeFrank, two great nieces Danielle Fawcett and Catherine Wiemels and two great nephews Jamie Serich and CWO3 Donald Clark. Friends may call on Friday, May 20, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, where the Mothers of Crucifix Society will hold a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Edith's family would like to thank the entire staff at the Hospice House for their excellent care and compassion shown to Edith during her stay with them.
