Boardman - There will be a funeral service held on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Good Hope Lutheran Church, 98 Homestead Dr., Boardman with Pastor Robert Quaintance officiating, for Edward L. Evans, 64, of Boardman, who passed away early Tuesday, morning, August 2, 2011 after a short illness with his loving family by his side. Edward will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for his big smile and love of life. He was born July 7, 1947 in Youngstown the son of Edward and Mary Ellen (Stricklin) Evans and was a lifelong area resident. Edward was employed as an engineering manager with the George A. Mitchell Company in Boardman for the last 35 years. He was a 1965 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and attended Youngstown State University majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Edward was a United States Army Reservist for 6 years and attended Good Hope Lutheran Church. He was an active member of the YMCA in Boardman where he enjoyed working out along with being a member of the Applewood Golf League. Edward was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with them especially with his grandchildren. He enjoyed golfing, classic cars, being outdoors, landscaping and working in his yard which was always done to perfection. Edward also was an avid football fan, where he would root for his two teams the Denver Broncos and Cardinal Mooney High School. He leaves behind to hold on to his memories his beloved wife of over 45 years the former Barbara Malkoch whom he married August 5, 1967, three children Brian (Michelle) Evans of Poland, Kelly (Chris) Dolan of Cincinnati, and Erin (Mike) Roberts off Youngstown, seven grandchildren Adam, Brady, Madison, Reilly, Eric, Ryan, and Emma, his mother Mary Ellen Lissimore of Newton Falls, mother-in-law Helen Malkoch of Youngstown, a sister Mary Ellen (John) Evans Cleary of Newton Falls, and a brother Ronnie (Denise) Evans of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his father Edward Evans, father-in-law George Malkoch, a sister Karen Folkwein and a baby brother David Edward Evans. Friends may call on Friday, August 5, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, and again on Saturday, August 8, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:20 a.m. at Good Hope Lutheran Church, Boardman.
