Youngstown - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Dominic Church, 77 E. Lucius Ave., Youngstown, preceded by a 12:30 p.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman, for Esther J. Maffei, 93, of Youngstown, who passed away peacefully Saturday evening, December 15, 2018.

Esther will always be remembered and loved by her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews as a wonderful fun loving, generous, kind aunt.

She was born June 1, 1925 in Youngstown, the daughter of Peter and Maria (Ferrari) Maffei and grew up on the Eastside and was a lifelong area resident.

Esther was a 1943 graduate of East High School and a longtime member of St. Dominic Church.

Esther retired as a supervisor, after working over 30 years at General Electric Lamp Plant.

Esther had many passions throughout her life. She enjoyed doing puzzles, painting by numbers, playing card games and was an avid reader. Esther also enjoyed watching her favorite shows and she especially enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews.

She leaves behind to hold onto her precious memoires her nieces and nephews, Rita Davis, Mary Jo (Tom) Nagy, Karen (David) Trevis, Alex (Lora) Herman, Thomas (Trish) Herman, and Richard (Paula) Herman along with several great nieces and nephews.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, a nephew Gene Maffei, three brothers Leo, Joseph and Gene Maffei and three sisters Edith Herman, Mary Kuprus and Inez Maffei.

Family and friends may pay their respects Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.

Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
