Youngstown - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Youngstown, preceded by a 9:15 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Frank Nicholas Patella, 92, of Youngstown, who passed away early Tuesday morning, July 9, 2013 with his loving wife by his side. Frank will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends. He was born in Pettorano, L'Aquila, Italy on July 28, 1920, the son of Giuseppe and Maria Concetta (Costanzia)Patella and moved to the Youngstown area in 1926. Frank was a United States Army Veteran of World War II where he earned the rank of Private First Class with the 801st Tank Destroyer Battalion. He fought in battles in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. Frank was awarded the following decorations the Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal. Upon his Honorable Discharge from the Army, Frank worked for over 30 years as an inspector for Republic Steel Company. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Frank enjoyed fishing, going to Ladbrokes to watch the horse races, sitting on his front porch watching the birds and watching his favorite Westerns on TV while sitting on his couch. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He leaves behind to hold on to his precious memories his beloved wife of over 69 years the former Nora Francis whom he married on October 20, 1943, two daughters Gillian "Jill" Mastrogiuseppe and Mary Dutton both of Youngstown, five grandchildren Annette Olmi, Jeannette (Robert) Garland, Josette Mastrogiuseppe, Frank Dutton and Deborah (Ed) Traficant, five great grandchildren Todd, Jessica, Raina, Brandon and Samuel and two great-great grandchildren Aubri and Kylie. Besides his parents, Frank was preceded in death by a great granddaughter Harmony Traficant, two sons-in-law Severino "Tony" Mastrogiuseppe and Emery "Buddy" Dutton, two sisters Antoinette Racich and Cecilia Lancia, and four brothers Vincent, Chester, Americo and Antonio Patella. Friends may call on Friday, July 12, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Austintown, with military honors provided by the great men from the United States Army. .
