Campbell - There will be a funeral service held on Friday, June 10, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for George L. Ortiz Jr., 60, of Campbell, who passed away Friday morning June 3, 2011. George will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends. He was born November 20, 1950 in Coamo, Puerto Rico, the son of George L. Sr. and Leonor (Negron) Ortiz and moved to the Youngstown area in 1955. George was employed for many years at the Sheet & Tube Company along with Camuso Paving Company. He was a graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and also received a diploma in 1979 as a Certified Auto Service Mechanic. George was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War where he earned the rank of Private First class and received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He enjoyed listening to music, cooking, giving haircuts and family BBQ's. George also was a big Cleveland Browns fan. He leaves behind to hold on to his memories a son David (Yvette) Ortiz of Youngstown, his fiancAC. Zoraida Gonzalez, nine grandchildren Carlos, Amber, Shaylia, Daveena, Jesus, Hector, Gilbert, Ana, and Heaven, a great grandson Breondrae, a sister Carmen Iris Ortiz (Richard Garcia), three nieces, two nephews, three great nephew, a great niece, and his beloved dog Solo. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son Adam Ortiz, and two brothers Felix and David Ortiz. Friends may call on Friday evening, June 10, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 6:50 p.m. at the Rossi &Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. In lieu of flowers material contributions may be made to the funeral home or directly to the family to help defray funeral expenses.
