Obituary

Boardman - Gregory Michael Voytilla, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family.

Greg was born on December 6, 1955, in Youngstown, the son of Myron Voytilla and Dolores (Rish) Picchiottino. He graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown and went on to build a successful career at Commercial Metal Forming, where he worked until his retirement in March 2022.

An Eagle Scout, Greg carried throughout his life the values of hard work, loyalty, and service to others. He was the hardest-working person many knew—always moving, always working on a project, and always willing to lend a helping hand. Whether helping his children, assisting a neighbor, or tackling a task that needed done, Greg could always be counted on.

Greg had a passion for travel and adventure. He loved skiing and spent years taking trips throughout the United States and Canada alongside his son, Gregory. He also enjoyed traveling to Italy with his family, where he explored new places and happily worked his way through the local food in every town they visited. In retirement, Greg and Janice adored spending part of the year at their home in Southwest Florida, where they enjoyed the sunshine, new adventures, and a wonderful community of friends.

He found joy in tending his garden, riding his cherished Harley-Davidson Road King Classic, cooking, and entertaining. Greg loved bringing people together around a table and was known for being an exceptional cook. Whether hosting family gatherings, holiday celebrations, or impromptu get-togethers with friends, he took great pride in preparing meals and making everyone feel welcome. His generosity extended far beyond his home, as he freely gave his time and energy to family, friends, and neighbors whenever they needed him.

Above all else, Greg lived for his family. Nothing brought him greater happiness than being "Papa" to his grandchildren, Seraphina and Luca. He was their loudest cheerleader, faithfully attending soccer games and swim meets and celebrating every accomplishment, big or small. When he wasn't cheering from the sidelines, he was right in the middle of the action—playing in the pool, spending time outdoors, and creating the kind of everyday memories that his grandchildren will carry with them forever. Whether he was making them laugh, teaching them something new, or simply enjoying their company, the time he spent with Seraphina and Luca was among the greatest joys of his life.

Greg is survived by his loving wife, Janice; his son, Gregory Voytilla and daughter-in-law, Alyx Voytilla; his beloved grandchildren, Seraphina and Luca; and the many friends who became family throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dolores and Myron; stepfather, John Picchiottino; his brother, Timothy Voytilla; and his beloved uncle, Bob Rish.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday, June 8, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. at Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street, Boardman.

A prayer service will be held at 11:20 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mount Carmel, Youngstown, with the Very Rev. Msgr. John Zuraw, J.C.L., V.G., as celebrant.

Burial will take place at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Lowellville.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who provided care, support, friendship, and kindness during Greg's illness.

Greg will be remembered for his tireless work ethic, generous spirit, and unwavering devotion to his family. His presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who knew and loved him.
