Youngstown – There was a private funeral service held on Friday, December 16, 2016, at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, with Father Mykhaylo Farynets officiating, for Helen D. Gross, 91, of Youngstown, who passed away Monday afternoon, December 12, 2016 with her loving family by her side.
Helen will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends for her kindness, generosity and caring personality.
She was born June 27, 1925 in Youngstown, the daughter of John and Anna (Cheresne) Desko and was a lifelong area resident.
Helen was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School.
Helen retired in 1985 after working for over 30 years at Packard Electric along with being a homemaker. Her family will miss all her wonderful cooking and baking especially her chicken noodle soup and kolachi.
Helen was a life- time member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Guild.
Helen had many passions throughout her life. She enjoyed playing Bingo and cards, doing crossword puzzles, and taking trips to the casinos, but she especially loved spending time with her family.
She leaves behind to hold onto her precious memories her daughter Jerilynn DeTata of Michigan, four grandchildren Kimberly (Ronald) Pesa of Boardman, Sherry DeTata of Florida, Darren DeTata of Michigan and Carly Craft of McDonald, a great granddaughter Alexandra Pesa of Boardman, and a brother Charles "Chaz" (JoAnn) Desko of Youngstown along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides her parents, Helen was preceded in death by a daughter Lois Ann Lambert, two sisters Anna Roman and Mary Lisko and a brother John Desko.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman.
Burial took place at St. Nicholas Byzantine Cemetery, Campbell.
In lieu of flowers material contributions may be made in Helen's name to St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 1898 Wilson Ave., Youngstown, Ohio 44506.
