Youngstown - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mt. Carmel, Youngstown, with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio Jr. as celebrant, preceded by a 12:15 p.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Ida "Eda" Maria Palagano, 96, of Youngstown, who passed away early Wednesday morning, January 27, 2016. Ida will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends for her smile and generous personality. Ida was born August 18, 1919 in Youngstown the daughter of Vincenzo "Jim" and Bambina (Campati) LaCivita and was a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of East High School and was an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica. Ida was a part time employee of Strouss Hirshberg Department Store in downtown Youngstown along with being a proud homemaker. She had many enjoyments throughout her life but she especially enjoyed cooking and baking. Her family will miss all her wonderful Italian dishes and pastries that she would always prepare with love. Her husband Matteo Palagano whom she married November 22, 1962 on Thanksgiving Day, died November 8, 1990. She leaves behind to hold onto her precious memories her nieces and nephews Gavino (Carol) Catauro of Austintown, Joseph (Carol) Catauro of Campbell, James (June) Marzano of Florida, Patty (Larry) Geinosky of Florida, Mary Frances (Owen) Luysterburg of Georgia, Joseph LaCivita, and John LaCivita of Hubbard along with many great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband Ida was preceded in death by three brothers John Paul, Anthony Joseph and Joseph Nicholas LaCivita and three sisters an infant Virginia LaCivita, Frances Catauro and Ann Marzano. Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, January 29, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman.
