Youngstown - There will be a funeral service held on Friday at 11:00 am at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Jack Ciavarella, 83, of Youngstown, who passed away peacefully in his sleep early Monday morning August 17, 2015. Jack will be missed by his many family members and friends. He will also be missed by his caregivers who thought he was quite the charmer. He was born June 18, 1933 in Youngstown, the son of Louis and Jennie (Torchio) Ciavarella and was a lifelong area resident. Jack was a graduate of East High School and started his career owning and operating a service station. He later then went on to work for many years as a service advisor with J C Penny's and finished his career working as a security guard until his retirement in 2007. Jack was a proud United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was awarded the following decorations for his service to our country, the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Jack was honored to service his county and received an Honorable Discharge on February 26, 1954. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW. Jack proudly was an assistant softball coach for Ray Boom Boom Mancini's knockouts for several years He also enjoyed gardening, playing the Lottery and cooking. Everyone will miss his famous spaghetti sauce on Sunday's at noon. His wife the former Marjorie Ann Price whom he married on February 25, 1956 died August 3, 2007. Jack leaves behind to hold onto his precious memories his four children Frank (Anna) Ciavarella of New Springfield, Cheryl Ciavarella of Youngstown, Annette (Angelo) DePalmo of Canfield and Jacci (Robert) Ciavarella-Brownlie of Canfield, eleven grandchildren Frank Jr. (Amy) Ciavarella, Brian (Jessica) Ciavarella, Tabatha (Jason Piecuch) Tarr, Joshua (Venessa) Luther, Kelly (Matt) Smith, Joseph (Emily) Ciavarella, Amy (David) Fedor, Christi Tarr, Nikki Ciavarella, Jeremy (Amber Fry) Ciavarella and Angelo DePalmo III, fifteen great grandchildren Kaye, Gia, Gage, Isabella, Ian, Natalie, Hanna, Nadine, Lennon, Lexi, Xander, Arianna, McKenna, Autumn and Kiera, a brother James (Terry) Ciavarella, of Youngstown, and two sisters Rose Ciavarella Peterson of Austintown and Barb (Gary) Heeley of Florida, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, Jack was preceded in death by a granddaughter Wendi Tarr, three brothers Angelo, Joseph and Sam Ciavarella and two sisters Mary Giovannini and Lucy Bacha. Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Friday, August 21, 2015 from 10:30 am until 10:55 am at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home 4700 Market St., Boardman. Burial will take place at Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown, where the great men of the Trumbull County American Legion will provide military honors for Jack.
