Canfield - James L. "Jimmy" Donofrio, 64, of Canfield, will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for his big smile, wonderful personality, extremely generous nature, always putting his family first and his passions for golf and wine making. He was born November 27, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Vito and Mary (Tiberio) Donofrio and moved to the Youngstown area in 1948. Jimmy was a 1964 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School where he excelled in golf and then went on to play golf at Miami University of Ohio where he earned his Bachelor Degree in Business Administration/Finance. He was employed from 1971 until 1996 as Vice President of Leasing for the DeBartolo Property Management. In 1996 Jim went on to open his own company Market St. Leasing which represented several Real Estate Developers in the country until the present where he was the owner and operator of the Avalon Gardens. Jim started his golf career at the age of 6 and caddied at Mill Creek Golf Course where he got his nickname "Peaches" from Ange Petrella. He went on to play golf all over the United States including Augusta National and even won a ProAm Tournament in Las Vegas. He was a member of St. Christine Church and the Bagnolese Men's Club where he held all positions and was past president for many terms. Jim along with his brother Ron were proud soccer coaches for over 25 years of both indoor and outdoor soccer. They started coaching in the parochial league and then with Canfield Schools where they coached the same group of boys known as " 14 Brothers" all the way until they were the Canfield High School Soccer Team. He leaves behind to hold on to this memories his wife the former Rosanne Soda whom he married April 24, 1976, a daughter Carli Donofrio of Canfield, a son Gianni Donofrio of Canfield, two brothers Ron and wife Nancy Donofrio of Canfield and Anthony and wife Carol Donofrio of Lakewood, and a sister Linda husband Rick Strong of Wadsworth, his Godson Julian Donofrio and Goddaughter Elisa Finn along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
