Obituary

Boardman - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Friday, September 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke Church, Boardman with Father Joseph Fata officiating, preceded by a 9:15 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Jennie Dolores DeFiore, 92, who peacefully passed away early Sunday morning, September 8, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Jennie will always be remembered and loved by her family and friends for her devotion and pride she took in her home, family and especially in her grandchildren. She was born August 12, 1921 in Boiano, Campobasso, Italy, the daughter of Faustino and Maria (Mastracola) D'Ercole and moved to the United States in 1928. Jennie was a true matriarch, a proud homemaker, a good cook and great baker. Her family will miss her fabulous pies she made from scratch, AC.clairs and spaghetti sauce. She was a self employed hair stylist for over 50 years and a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Jennie was a charter member of St. Luke Church, along with being a member of AARP, the Eastside Garden Club, several card clubs and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed doing crafts, sewing, crocheting blankets for all her family members, and traveling back home to Italy. She especially loved planting flowers and working in her flower garden. Jennie leaves behind to hold on to her precious memories her beloved husband of over 71 years Joseph John DeFiore whom she married June 27, 1942, three children RoseMarie (Joseph) Patin of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Joseph John Jr. (Carole) DeFiore of Poland, and Dolores (James) Hellman of Boardman, ten grandchildren, Joseph (Nancy) Patin, Karla (Peter) Kooken, Deneen (Robert) McGarvey, Jolene (Rob) Hyrmer, Carlene (Jason) Gilmore, Joseph John III (Lisa) DeFiore, Justine DeFiore, Joseph Hellman, Nicholas (Kelly) Hellman and Jennifer (Joseph) Hudak, fifteen great-grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters Lena Romeo of Youngstown and Ellen (Hollis) Hall, Boardman. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers John and Sam D'Ercole, and four sisters Rita JanJanin, Joanne, Viola and Peggy D'Ercole. Friends may call on Thursday, September 12, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown. In lieu of flowers material contributions may be made in Jennie's name to either St. Luke Church, 5235 South Ave., Boardman, Ohio 44512 or to MVI Hospice 4891 Belmont Ave., Youngstown, Ohio 44505.
