Boardman - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Monday, August 22, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Luke Church, Boardman, with Father Gerald DeLucia officiating, preceded by a 9:30 am prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, Boardman for Jesse F. Boughner, 79, of Boardman, who passed away on Wednesday afternoon, on his 79th birthday, August 17, 2016 with his loving family by his side. Jesse will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends. He was born August 17, 1937 the son of Jesse O. and Ann (Galkus) Boughner and was a lifelong area resident. Jesse was a graduate of East High School and was a member of St. Luke Church. He was a proud United States Army Veteran serving his country during peacetime. Jesse earned the rank of E-4 and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Jesse started his career working at General Fireproofing, then at Republic Steel-Truscon Door Plant in Niles and retired as a laborer from Kreidler Construction Company. Upon his retirement, Jesse then drove delivery truck for the Youngstown Vindicator. He enjoyed bowling, doing crossword puzzles and working in his yard. Jesse had a passion for golf and played in numerous leagues, lastly with the Monday Night Men's League at Pinelakes Golf Course. Jesse was also a talented artist doing drawings and paintings. He was an avid sports fan always rooting on his favorite teams the Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavaliers. He leaves behind to hold onto his memories his wife of over 38 years the former Christina Crooks whom he married July 15, 1978 at St. Luke Church, two sons Steven Boughner and Sean Boughner both of Boardman, three sisters Patricia Collins of Boardman, Marge Matovich and Cathy Curry both of Niles and a brother Richard (Barbara) Boughner of Youngstown along with many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by a brother Robert Boughner. Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday, August 21, 2016 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home 4700 Market St., Boardman. Burial will take place at Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown, with military honors provided by the great men and women of the United States Army. On behalf of Jesse's family they would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation and thanks to Harbor Light Hospice for all the care and compassion that has been shown to them during this difficult time.
