Obituary

Lowellville - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Youngstown, preceded by an 8:15 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for John J. "Boogie" Fossessca, 92, of Lowellville, who passed away early Wednesday morning, December 14, 2011. John will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for his big smile, outgoing personality and zest for life. He was born December 27, 1918 in Youngstown, the son of Luigi and Theresa (DePasqua) Fossessca, and was a lifelong area resident. John was employed as a truck driver for over 25 years with Modern Builders along with doing home improvements on the side for his own company where he specialized in installing doors and windows. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, the Teamsters Local 377, and the Jewish Community Center. John was a Untied States Army veteran of World War II where he earned the rank of Technician Fifth Grade with the 198th Ordnance Base Depot Company. He was awarded the following decorations and citations: Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a graduate of East High School where he then helped coach football at East High School during the 1960's along with being a huge Notre dame Fan. John had a passion for basketball and football especially when he would watch his grandsons play their sports. He enjoyed going to Italian Festivals, walking, dancing, music, and cooking. John leaves behind to hold on to his precious memoires three children Louis (Helen) Fossessca of Brookfield, Anita Fossessca of Arizona, and Theresa DeFrank of Lowellville, five grandchildren John and Dominic DeFrank, Beth (James) Carney, Louis Fossessca and Linda Fossessca Shana, and a great granddaughter Ashley Gonier. He was preceded in death by his first wife the former Millie Summers, his second wife the former Gladys Michaels, three brothers James, Nicholas, and Anthony Fossessca, and three sisters Phyllis Zupp, Lena LaCitra and Louise Parise. Friends may call on Friday, December 16, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Entombment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown, with full military honors provided by the great men of the Trumbull County American Legion.
