Boardman - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 7345 Westview Dr., Boardman, with Father Philip Rogers officiating for John J. "PJ" Moore, 77, of Boardman, who passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, March 26, 2015 after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer. John will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for his sense of humor, smile and generous personality. PJ was born December 24, 1941 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the son of William and Winifred Moore and moved to the Northside as a young child. John was a 1960 graduate of Ursuline High School where he was an outstanding quarterback and made the all city team. He then went on to continue his education and football career at Youngstown State University and graduated with a bachelors Degree in Finance. He was a lifelong investment broker working with various companies throughout the area and for the last 35 years was employed with Stifel Nicolaus Company. John had many passions throughout his life. He enjoyed traveling, taking trips to the Casino, and was an avid sports fan always rooting on his favorite teams Ursuline High School, Notre Dame and the Boston Red Sox. One of his most memorable times every year was going to the Indians versus the Red Sox match ups, but John loved being with his grandchildren above all things and they were the apple of his eye. PJ had a big heart and would always help with rescuing many animals throughout the area along with volunteering at many shelters his time and talents. PJ leaves behind to hold on to his precious memories his beloved wife of over 34 years the former Jeanette Farkas whom he married on February 14, 1981, his children Dena (Mark) Schneider of Boardman and Doug "Wes" (Courtnay) Chandler of New Middletown, four grandchildren Jenna, Sarah, Brooke and Leanne along with his beloved pet dogs Ruffles and Wrinkles. Besides his parents John was preceded in death by two brothers Joseph and Patrick Moore. Friends may call on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 10:30 a.m. until 10:55 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Boardman. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown. Arrangements have been entrusted to teh professional care of the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman.
