Struthers- There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mt. Carmel, Youngstown, with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio Jr. as celebrant, preceded by a 9:10 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Joseph Rocco Agresta, 74, of Struthers, who passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015. He was born on June 23, 1940 in Struthers, the son of Antonio and Frances (Catanzariti) Agresta. Joe was a proud, lifelong resident of Struthers and a 1958 Struthers High School graduate. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Youngstown State University and a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Westminster College. Joe began his career in education at Maplewood Local Schools and spent thirty-five (35) years there serving as a Teacher, Elementary Principal, and Interim Superintendent. After retiring from Maplewood, he served as an Elementary Principal with Lordstown Local Schools and as the Junior High School Principal with Girard City Schools. Joe was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica. He was also a member of the Trumbull County Elementary Principals' Association. Joe was a proud United States Army veteran where he earned the rank of Private First Class and received an Honorable Discharge on August 31, 1969. He was awarded the Marksman Badge and the Sharpshooter Badge for his outstanding service in defending the freedom of our country. Joe was a devoted husband and father and loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed his Saturday morning breakfasts with his friends. He is survived by his wife, Vi (Nolfi) Agresta, who he married on June 24, 1967,his two daughters, Attorney Gina Agresta Richardson (John Richardson) of Canfield, Ohio and Doctor Cristine E. Agresta (Dr. Ross Kessler) of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and his beloved grandchildren, Jacob Anthony Richardson and Mila Frances Kessler. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Frances Agresta, his parents-in-laws, Orlando and Pauline (Deramo) Nolfi, and his older brother, Pat Agresta. Friends and family may pay their respects on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home 4700 Market St., Boardman.
