Obituary

Youngstown - There will be a funeral service held on Friday at 1:30 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Boardman with Rev. Alan Hutchison officiating, for Joseph D. Campana, 82, of Youngstown, who passed away Sunday evening March 1, 2015 with his loving family by his side. Joe will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends for his smile and hard work ethic. He was born July 22, 1932 in Greenville, Pennsylvania, the son of Anthony and Donata (Scarpucci) Campana and moved the Youngstown area as a child. Joe attended East High School until his family moved to the Warren area where he attended Warren G. Harding. He was a proud United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean War, where he earned the rank of Corporal and received an Honorable Discharge on December 9, 1960. Joe worked as a store clerk and manager for Sparkle Market and Kroger's Grocery Stores along with being an independent truck driver. Joe owned his own truck and trailer and was employed with Dart Trucking, Autumn Trucking along with numerous other companies and retired in 2007. Joe always but his family first and he loved to play sports with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed bowling with his wife, traveling, rooting on his favorite basketball team the Cleveland Cavaliers, but he especially loved to play golf. He leaves behind to hold on to his precious memories his wife the former Nancy Weldon whom he married December 4, 1952, two daughters Patricia A. (Michael) Scnich of Cincinnati and Nancy Jo (James) Heydle of Boardman, a son-in-law Mark Escaja, six grandchildren Aaron (Aime), Michael and Corey Scnich, Lindsey Escaja and Jennifer and Alison Heydle, five great grandchildren AJ, Anthony, Daniel, Diondra and Adriana and a sister Dina Gould. Besides his parents Joseph was preceded in death by a daughter Barbara Escaja, a granddaughter Melissa Escaja, a brother Michael Campana and three sisters Anna Yanucci, Ruth Clark and Edith Wadland. Friends may call on Thursday, March 5, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Friday March 6, 2015 from 12:30 pm until 1:20 pm at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home 4700 Market St., Boardman. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Boardman where the great men from the United States Army will provide military honors for Joseph.
