Joseph John
"Joe" Sinkovich
March 15, 1920 – May 10, 2013
Youngstown - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Youngstown, preceded by a 9:15 a.m. prayer service held at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for our beloved father, Joseph John Sinkovich who passed away peacefully Friday evening at the Assumption Village in North Lima. We are most proud that our dad was a part of the greatest generation of Americans who were united by common purposes and values....duty, honor, courage, and service. Joseph was born on March 15, 1920, the son of Marko and Katherine (Petretic) Sinkovich. He was a Yardmaster on the P & LE railroad for over 31 years before retiring in 1982. Joseph was a proud member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where he was an adult altar server for funerals and loved singing in the choir. He had a great love of family and country having served in the United States Army as Staff Sergeant during World War II. He was awarded the following decorations and citations the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal and the American Theater Ribbon. He married our mother, the former Jennie DiPasqua in September of 1941 and she passed away November 18, 2006. They had four children together, Catherine Frlan, Veronica (Vincent) Guerrieri, JoAnn (Lee) Crook, and Joseph (Linda) Sinkovich, eight wonderful grandchildren and fourteen precious great-grandchildren. He also leaves his sister Anne Sinkovich, sisters-in-law Carol Sinkovich and Anna Marie DiPasqua and many loving nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a son-in-law Eli Frlan, five sisters Barbara Sinkovich, Mary Sinkovich, Catherine Stefanec, Helen Villone and Rose Humpries and three brothers Frank, Steve, and Marko Sinkovich. Friends may call on Monday, May 13, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Family and friends may visit www.rossisantuccifh.com. to view this obituary, sign the guest book and send condolences to the Sinkovich family. Our family would like to warmly thank the nurses and staff who graciously cared for him in his stay at the Marian Living Center and his short stay at the Assumption Village Nursing Home as we walked with our father in this season of his life.
